A crocodile stuffed animal or an alligator? Which do you buy? Is there a difference? Does it really matter if there's a difference? Of course it does!
Crocs and gators may look the same from the untrained eyes perspective, but they are in fact, different. Once you are familiar with the differences and get some practice at recognizing them, it's not too difficult to tell them apart. Crocodiles are grayish-green in color and like to live in coastal and salt-water habitats. Their snouts are narrow and triangular and they have a fourth tooth that is always exposed. Alligators, on the other hand, are dark in color. They can usually be found in fresh water and they have a snout that is broad and round. When an alligators mouth is closed, their fourth tooth remains hidden thanks to an upper jaw socket that the teeth fit into.
